Blue team captain Eric Mizell introduced the campers to MSC 2016’s theme, “Blessed,” during a Bible study following dinner this evening. Below is an outline of what he discussed, as well as an audio recording of the lesson:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” — Ephesians 1:3
If we are Christians, then we are blessed through Christ – we have spiritual blessings that others do not. We have:
- Joy
- Peace
- Family
- Salvation
These are the spiritual blessings that we are going to talk about and appreciate this week.
Another way that all of us are blessed here today is that we are Americans. Today being the 4th of July, we celebrate the people who died to secure our independence. Americans have blessings that others do not have:
- Freedom of speech
- Freedom to participate in our government
- Freedom of religion
- Free market society
We are blessed spiritually through Christ. We are blessed to live in America and be free. We are some of the most blessed people of all time! But what does this mean for us?
“As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, Who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.” — I Timothy 6:17
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” — Ephesians 2:1-10
Being a Christian is more than just keeping a set of rules. It is also about doing good works!

I have been in a spiritual rut for a period of time, but the lessons you’re including for teenagers have given me a place to find studies to focus my own learning / reminders. Thanks from this sixty-something! I know God is blessing me through your efforts this week and next. Thank you sincerely.
We’re so thankful you are benefiting as well. Lord willing, we will continue to post all the lessons throughout the week for you and everyone else to continue to be benefited!
