A brand new Sunday night event at Junior camp is the Toilet Paper Challenge. Team captains unrolled a full roll of toilet paper and each team member had to hold a section of it while walking through an obstacle course. Another MSC Junior Camp Sunday night classic is the Hula Hoop Relay. Teams get in a circle and clasp hands while passing a hula hoop over their heads and jumping through. First team to get the hula hoop one complete time around the circle and sits down, wins.
Sunday evening’s events were off to a roaring start with an ‘oldie but a goodie’ called Through the Leg Shuffle. Each team lined up in a straight line with their feet spread apart. Sunday night after the opening ceremonies, the campers got to meet with their team captains and their new teammates. They learned each other’s names, team cheers and team strategies for the week – all in preparation for the events that start that evening.
Our theme of camp this week is “God Fits” from Psalm 119:11: “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against Thee.” After registration was complete, parents were invited to say for worship this evening before telling their campers goodbye and heading home. Sunday night, Junior camp director, Tyson Bacon brought the campers to their feet with word of all the exciting things in store for them this week. He used this time to explain all of the rules for the cabins, how to treat each other, and most importantly how to have fun.
