Compadre Aaron Sandy introduced our daily theme, “Blessed: Joy,” this morning during his flagpole devotion:
There are many forms of JOY:
- Comfort and joy in the hope of heaven — I Thessalonians 4:15: “For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.“
- We should take joy in challenging times — James 1:2-4: “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” We should challenge our faith to confirm that it is strong.
- We should be joyful even in tribulation — II Corinthians 7:4: “I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.”
- We have joy in freedom and the hope of heaven — Romans 8:18: “I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.”
