We were blessed this evening to have J.R. and Sue Bronger come visit with us as J.R. led our Tuesday evening Bible study. To begin the service, 10 of our campers led us in an uplifting song service including “Seek Ye First,” “Sanctuary,” “Lord I Lift Your Name on High,” “All In All,” “My Eyes Have Seen Your Glory,” “Sing and Be Happy,” “Pierce My Ear,” “The Mountain Song,” “As the Deer,” and “Listen to Our Hearts.”
J.R. spent nearly an hour speaking how with God, the impossible is not just sometimes possible, not just most times possible, but rather ALWAYS possible. Genesis 18:14a – “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?” Matthew 19:26 – “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
1. Miraculous events are possible with God. “…the worlds were framed by the word of God” (Hebrews 11:3), He parted the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21), He caused the sun to stand still (Joshua 10:13), Christ raised the dead (John 11:43), and Jesus walked on the water (Matthew 14:28).
2. Salvation is possible with God. In Matthew’s account of the rich young ruler, Jesus stated, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:24) and “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). Christ “…came into the world to save sinners…” (I Timothy 1:15) and He “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).
3. Regardless of God’s power, He will not override our will and choices. He will not stop us from sinning, but He will lift us, deliver us, and save us, but only if we want Him to (John 5:6).
J.R. concluded his lesson by stressing that although camp is uplifting for everyone, our daily lives are different than life at camp. Outside of camp, life consists of hardships, disappointments, and struggles, but we can all overcome and be victorious because with God, “Impossible is Nothing.” Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
